The set is made in the scarce "buff yellow" color with black bas-relief, a combination used for a short 4-year period between 1929 and 1933. Both candlesticks are decorated with classical figures on the stem and a scroll pattern on the base. The classical figures are different on each candlestick. The height of these candlesticks is also slightly different. One is 6" tall and the other is 5 3/4" tall.

Both have bases approximately 3 7/8" in diameter and tops about 2 1/4" wide. When side-by-side, the height difference is apparent.

Spread apart, they could pass as a matching pair. The underside of each base is marked "WEDGWOOD" and "MADE IN ENGLAND". They both have small paper labels marked "470", which I left intact in case they have meaning. One has a pencil mark that reads "1930", possibly the year of manufacture. I've seen sales records for a few taller buff yellow candlesticks, but none below 7.

I believe these shorter candlesticks to be VERY RARE in this color. Condition of these Wedgwood candlesticks is VERY GOOD with no chips, cracks, fleabites, or repairs. Their biggest condition issue is some staining and discoloration spots, something that appears to be quite common with buff yellow pieces. I tried to clean them but not too aggressively, so you might have better luck. Regardless, these HTF candlesticks look great and display well.

They would make a fine addition to any Wedgwood jasperware collection. Please take a close look at the many photos I've provided and judge condition for yourself.

As I mentioned previously, I can't find any other examples of these shorter candlesticks in buff yellow pictured online.
