A sow was often sacrificed during a marriage ceremony as an offering to Ceres. This 85 year old sugar bowl measures 4" tall x 5" wide and is marked'Wedgwood Made In England' with'Wedgwood' in Sans Serif Font which dates the piece to between 1929 when Wedgwood introduced the Sans Serif Font and 1941 when Jasper Dip production ceased. Just like Dark Olive Green Dip and Crimson Dip, Yellow-Buff was made in very limited quantity due to the dip color bleeding and difficulties with firing.
