Wedgwood Jasperware Crimson/Red Round/Scallop Covered Box-Made in England c1929

  

A common shape in a super rare color! This very nice crimson Wedgewood Jasperware covered box is the first one that I have ever seen or owned since I started in this business. It has the Wedgewood name stamped on the bottom and below the wording made in England. This would date this box to the late 1920s/early 1930s. The relief appears to be groups of cherubs circling the bottom with a Grecian/Roman scene in the center of the lid.

The box measures 5 1/2 diameter and stands approximately 2 tall. I can fine no chips, cracks, damage, or repairs to either the base or the lid.

Also there is very little if any bleeding of the red color into the white relief. Possibly minute amounts on the base are visible under close inspection.

There is some staining on the inside of the lid and base as well as the bottom of the box. I have included several pictures of this discoloration. Im not sure if it could be cleaned but there possibly would be something that can be done. Also, the relief was intact and had little if any staining or bleeding.
