Victorian English Jasperware Cheese Keeper/Serving Dome in the Style of Wedgwood. This is an antique decorative cheese keeper. An English, Jasperware serving dome in the manner of Wedgwood, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850.
Alluring cheese keeper with attractive blue palette. Displays a desirable aged patina throughout.
Distinctive Jasperware with white over blue ground. Of generous size with provision for a truckle of Stilton of 2kg to 3kg in size (4.4 lb to 6.61 lb). Highly detailed acorn finial sits above the keeper lid. Stylised foliate pattern to centre of lid with acorn leaf perimeter. Cameo relief of putto adorns the circumference of the dome.
Rolled edge to base bears a repeat of the acorn branch relief. This is a delightful antique decorative cheese keeper, with a small chip (as photographed) there's also what looks to be an old kiln crack (also photographed) with the quality and skill expected of Wedgwood. Sure to grace any kitchen surface or dining table.
