Antique Wedgwood olive green jasperware dip plaque with white "The Choice of Hercules" (or The Judgment of Hercules) detailed and protruding relief, representing Hercules choosing between Fame and Pleasure. Overall, the plaque looks great. However, there is an area on the right side of Hercules, between him and Fame looks as if it starts from his right knee and goes up, pic. 3, which could be a sign of a very well-done professional repair. The slight variation in shades could be only seen upon close examination under direct day/sun light. We are posting more close up pics than we usually do for plaques, so that you will be able to see everything yourselves. Please review all the pics and let us know if youd like to see more and/or please send us your questions. Repair or not, the plaque is a very nice piece of Wedgwood. Dimensions: 18 x 5 7/8.

Plaque is marked: "WEDGWOOD", A, and some other potter marks. The 18:6 L:W ratio suggests that the plaque was manufactures during the mid-1800s, most likely, earlier than 1872, the first and only A (without England) year.
