A lovely antique English Wedgwood jasperware cameo; beautifully depicting a group of women exchanging cherubs for weapons. It's after a Pompeian wall painting from Stabiae, discovered in 1759 and currently in the Naples museum. It's set in a solid 9 carat rose gold mount with applied gold bead decoration, for wear as a brooch. It dates from around 1910, the cameo is stamped'Wedgwood' to the back and the mount'9ct' for 9 carat gold. It's in very good, fully wearable condition throughout, with no loss or damage.
It weighs 11.2 grams and measures 42 x 30 mm. The final photo shows it with a US penny (1 cent) coin for scale, which measures 19 mm / ¾ of an inch diameter.
