An Antique Wedgwood Classical Oval Plaque in Green Jasper Ware circa 1900 (Code 8234). A late 19th or very early 20th century antique Wedgwood plaque.
It is of oval form and green jasper ware colour. The plaque features bas relief classical maidens in diaphanous attire. The quality of the relief is very good as you can see in the close ups. The plaque is almost flat in profile so would have probably been made as a display item and may have been framed at some point.
The colour of the green ground varies a bit from the outer to the inner part and this would appear to be a manufacturing quirk (perhaps from firing). To the reverse the plaque carries the Wedgwood England marks dating it around 1890 to 1900. Height 12.3 cms (4.75 inches) Width 18.3 cms (7.25 inches) Weight 360 grams (before packing).
Colour variation across jasper green ground. Minor production flaws as often found on these plaques from this period.
