Pale Blue Jasper Dip - pre 1941. No repairs, cracks or chips. Check out our other Wedgwood. Wedgwood Pale Blue Dip Jasper Ware Loving Mug or Tyg features the bas-relief of 3 of the 9 Muses. The Muses, the personification of knowledge, literature, dance and music, were the nine daughters of Zeus.
This 115 year old jug measures 5" tall x 4 3/4" diameter and is marked'Wedgwood England' in Serif Font which generally dates the piece to between the McKinley Tariff Act of 1891 and Wedgwood abandoning the'England' Only mark in 1905 for most general production pieces. The use of the'England' Only mark continued for some production after 1905. There are 2 very interesting features of this very large loving mug.The first is that the inside of the mug was'dipped' in jasper instead of the usual clear glaze over the white stoneware body. Secondly, this mug comes with a metal lid. I don't believe this lid was factory issue, but it fits perfectly and looks great.
Its a great addition to this mug, especially if your initials are L. Which is engraved on the top. Please take a very good look at this piece and make an offer if you're interested.
