Antique elegant Louis XIV style plaque with two. Wedgwood pale blue jasperware oval medallions with silhouette portraits of. Adam Smith (1723-90; Scottish philosopher and the father of modern economics) originally designed by James Tassie in 1787 (impressed "Adam Smith in his 64th year 1787").

Benjamin Franklin (1796-90; American politician and scientist) originally designed by William Hackwood in 1777. We did not examine the medallions out of the frame, but could not spot any defects and/or repairs. Also, it is difficult to date them, especially without seeing the marks. Most likely, they were manufactured in the early 1800.
