A very large, antique Jasperware cheese / stilton dish and dome. Dating to circa 1880 this splendid piece probably hails from either the historic Dudson or Wedgwood factory.

This is a top quality piece and possesses a wonderful sense of detail; the fox hunting narrative playing out around the circumference of the dome is fantastically well rendered. The borders are given equal attention, being finished with superb garlands of intertwined oak leaves and branches, loaded with acorns. The finial is styled in the form of a rope knot.

The underside of the base is marked with a tiny impressed'A' and and'F'. The inside of the dome is inscribed with the number 1311 and impressed with a'K'. This is one of the best and cleanest examples of it's type that you will find for sale and it is priced to sell.

The dish, approx 31.5 cms diameter. The overall height, approx 22cms tall.

The dish with a couple of minor utensil marks and the rim with one or two minute blemishes (barely noticeable and mentioned only for the strictest of accuracy). The relief decoration in white is beautiful and complete. All items are packed with care, to a high standard and sent via tracked and signed for courier.
