Wedgewood Collectable Basalt King and Queen Chess Set

  

This beautiful Wedgwood King and Queen Chess pieces was produced by the world famous Wedgwood factory in Stoke on Trent, England. Manufactured in highly sought after black basalt jasperware, designed and modelled by Arnold Machin for Wedgwood. Offered as first quality, in excellent condition and in the original presentation box.

Never used and purely ornamental or kept away in own box. Wedgwood two basalt chess pieces in the shape of a king and a queen. RARE Each one is marked'WEDGWOOD' on the back of the base. These marks dates the chess pieces to 1966.

They were originally designed by Arnold Machin in 1940 and then reproduced in the 1960's and 70's. Both the king and queen are depicted sitting on a throne and the king has a sceptre in his hand.
