Large French Glass Bead Floral Multi Flower Bouquet Wedgwood Jasperware Bowl

LARGE FRENCH GLASS BEAD FLORAL MULTI FLOWER BOUQUET WEDGWOOD JASPERWARE BOWL. Mid century French beaded crystal flower bouquet in a Wedgwood, Jasperware bowl, which appear to have been together for some time.

This amazing bouquet has a variety of flowers including poppy style done in combination translucent opalescent light dark blue with yellow centers, translucent light blue with dark blue center, five petal frilly like flowers in vivid royal blue and white, with a variety of small white flowers with yellow and orange centers There is also a variety of leaves done in translucent green. The bowl is a pale blue Wedgwood, Jasperware, center piece bowl referred to as the'Sacrifice' bowl with. Bas-relief of a Sacrifice to Ceres, the Goddess of Agriculture and Fertility during a marriage ceremony.

It has impressed marks Wedgwood, Made in England, number 58, initials BW and what could be I or number 1. The bouquet is believed to date circa 1940/50 possibly earlier and the bowl has an impressed 58 which is believed to be the year of it's making. Each stem and flower has been hand beaded with Czech crystal beads. Beaded flowers were quite popular in France beginning in the Belle Époque period and lasted into to the 1950s. The process of handcrafting each stem was extremely time-consuming. These poignant pieces were often used to decorate high-end hats.

CONDITION - The bouquet and bowl are in very fine, vintage pre-owned condition! Very well kept and quite clean, I did not notice any damage or missing flowers but I have not moved them around, current arrangement seems to be fuller on one side, no chips or cracks in bowl however there is some small chipping on relief scene - as with all of my estate items, I have not cleaned them. Please see photos as part of description and condition. SIZE - Bouquet stands approximately 11" tall, 16" by 14" across, largest frilly white flower is 2 1/2" across, poppy flowers are 2 across. Bowl is 3 5/8" tall, 7 3/4" across top, 4 1/4 across footed base.
