An Antique Wedgwood Large Dark Blue Jasper Ware Jardiniere The Muses

An Antique Wedgwood Large Dark Blue Jasper Ware Jardiniere - The Muses (Code 8346). An antique early 20th century Wedgwood jardiniere. It dates around 1910 and is probably Edwardian in period but may be slightly later. This is one of the larger sizes that were in general production and it was produced using the jasper dip method.

The body is decorated with bas relief of The Muses and there are Bacchanalian garlands falling from lion mask heads. Around the rim is a band of rose type flowers. To the base are the Wedgwood impressed marks and these are shown in the images for you. A good sized item which will be noticed. They also make good vases when fitting with a suitable liner and frog.

Height 20 cms (8 inches) Width 23 cms (9 inches) at rim Weight 2970 grams (before packing). Some wear to interior through normal use. Bas relief in good order, just a few minor firing flaws typical for the period. Good even colour, a nice example.
